It made me smile to see how in a country, so different in many ways than Canada, could still function exactly like Canada.
Tehran, Iran – October 11 – 28, 2015
This page is a photo diary from my 2015 trip to Tehran, Iran. My main interests, as with most trips, are understanding business ethnography and general anthropological perspectives of the place. See an earlier article discussing Canada and Iran here.
This diary of events starts with a Tehran, Iran 360 degree view from Milad Tower and then highlights of different parts of the city. As my understanding develops I will add more context to the photos.

Tehran Day 3-4 – Tehran Retail and Street Markets including Tajrish and Darband

The colours and style caught my eye.

One thing I love about Iran (and the same thing happens in China) is that people are more able to do for themselves. This sort of commerce is outlawed in Canada.

Tajrish Baazar in northern Tehran. A mix of Persian goods and things sold in the Guangzhou, China Wholesale District.

A the northern edge of Tehran is the Alborz Mountai Range. Many of the valleys in this range are residential but Darband is a very unique refuge for those living in the city. To the right you can see a natural waterfall running down the side of the restaurant.

I’m sure no less accurate than any other fortune teller but I appreciate the theatrics.

On the road there were a couple fortune tellers. This one allowed his birds to pick a Hafez poem that would become your fortune.
